What a fascinating account of four exceptional women Sarah Allen has written! These are women who are not well known, but who each identified a need in the community they were in and quietly set about trying to make a difference. The way this was done looked different for each woman, sometimes their efforts were very practical, sometimes written works were necessary, sometimes connections were forged with people who could help make a difference. Slowly but surely their efforts were rewarded and we hear about changes in society that would never have come about without their diligent and compassionate activism. Allen writes each account with an eye clearly on the historical context, pointing out other key people and events of the same time period which I found helpful and interesting. This book presents to us a stirring clarion call to be active in our lives in bringing Christ before those who know nothing of Him. Let these women be your inspiration!
