J K Popham (1847-1937) was a minister of the Gospel for 70 years. He was pastor of Galeed Chapel, Brighton, for over 55 years. He was editor of the ‘Gospel Standard’ from 1907-1937 and also editor of the ‘Friendly Companion’ for 16 years.
Beside being a minister of the gospel, he was also a gifted writer and theologian.
In the last thirty years of his life he became an able leader among the Gospel Standard Churches, his name ranking alongside that of J C Philpot. His writings dealt with many of the controversial issues of the times, such as the Arminianism of the Sankey and Moody campaigns, and the subject of the relationship between divine sovereignty and man’s responsibility. These and more are included in this book.
