Paul White, who became better known as the Jungle Doctor, was a prolific writer of fascinating children’s stories that described his experiences as a missionary in Africa. He was born in Australia in 1910 and was drawn to the African continent by hearing stories of the Boer War from his father. In 1938, after training as a doctor, he headed out to Africa with his wife and young son to begin his missionary work. He believed this would be his life’s work, but God’s plans were different and he and his family had to return home to Australia after 3 years. He was invited to speak of his experiences on weekly radio broadcasts for many years, and these became the basis for his Jungle Doctor books.

The Jungle Doctor series developed into 20 books of engaging stories all about his many and varied experiences as a missionary doctor. He also developed a series of Jungle Doctor Fables: fun animal stories with an eternal message. All these books have been enduringly popular but are sadly now going out of print.
