This is a little devotional book incorporating daily snippets of wisdom from the writings of William Gurnall, the Puritan minister and author of The Christian in Complete Armour. These are just small bitesize chunks of thought provoking truth to meditate on throughout the day. As Joseph Hall (1574–1656), Bishop of Norwich, noted, ‘Every day is a little life: and our whole life is but a day repeated.’

When the fields are burnt up for want of rain, man and beast make a moan, yea, the very earth itself cleft with drought, by opening its thirsty mouth, expresseth its extreme need of some kind showers from the heavens to refresh it. And hast thou no sense of thy woeful condition? Which is worse think you, that the fruits and beasts of the field should perish for want of water, or thy soul for want of the Spirit? Couldst thou but be brought to lament thy want, there were hope of having it supplied (Isa. 44:3).
