Autumn in the Lake District should have been a delight to Amanda, but that year was different. She would have liked to run away from all her problems. At sschool she was not prepared to be beated by the new girl, even though the latter’s friendliness had made her liked by the rest of her class. The mysterious stranger and the old tunnel leading from the quarry brought adventure too, but everything Amanda did only showed her more and more clearly that her biggest problem was herself.
