Over the course of the twentieth century, theologians moved to summarise the great teachings of the Protestant Reformation in five statements. These statements are commonly known as the Five Solas (sola being the Latin for ‘alone’).
They are:
Sola Scriptura – Scripture alone
Sola Christus – Salvation through Christ alone
Sola Fide – Salvation by faith alone
Sola Gratia – Salvation by grace alone
Soli Deo Gloria – To the glory of God alone
This brief study of the Five Solas is designed to establish you in the foundation truths of the Christian faith.
