A further series of sermons preached by Francis Covell, Particular Baptist pastor at Providence Chapel, Croydon between 1872 and 1875. As a tradesman he stammered so badly that sometimes his customers could not tell what he said: but by the power of God he was made a very able minister of Jesus Christ. J. C. Philpot chose to live in Croydon in later years so that he could be a hearer of ‘Brother Frank’, as he delighted to call him.
