Richard Davis (1658-1714) was pastor for many years at Rothwell Independent Church, near Northampton. Although now little known, his influence at the time was notable and several new churches were founded by him in the area. He was also a pioneer of congregational hymn singing in England. But he was labelled an antinomian and marginalised for his clear gospel preaching that people should come to Christ just as they were – as sinners with their sin. The substance of this book was given as the third annual lecture of the James Bourne Society in 2014. It is a well produced hardback with an attractive dust jacket.
