One of the great blessings of the Protestant Reformation was the rediscovery of the Word of God. Martin Luther longed to see the Bible available in every language, in every hand, before the eyes, and in the ears and hearts of all. He was personally responsible for translating the Scriptures into German. He was also a Professor at Wittenburg University, lecturing in Biblical Exegesis, a discipline so necessary to the right preaching of God’s Word.

This little book contains extracts from Luther’s commentary on Galatians, taken from the first volume of Henry Cole’s translation of The Select Works of Martin Luther. This is prefaced by a lecture entitled Luther on Law and Gospel by Henry Sant. A right understanding of the distinction between Law and Gospel is vital in all real religion. As Luther said: “He that is skilful in this art and this cunning, may indeed be called a right divine.”
