Revised and updated and enlarged from the 1996 paperback edition, now also addressing the practical consequences of this issue in 21st Century Evangelicalism. This is a study by Dr George Ella of the theology of Andrew Fuller. It is timely in that Fuller is represented today as the man who recovered biblical Calvinism for Particular Baptists in the latter half of the 18th Century, and was therefore the ‘brains’ behind the zeal of men like William Carey. Ella reveals the philosophical approach taken by Fuller to the issue of man’s accountability to God . He differentiated between man’s ability and will following the FallÔÇöonly the latter being adversely affected. This then led to the conclusion that anyone can be saved if only they will be saved. If it was truly this theory that was the required stimulant to subsequent evangelism then ‘many false prophets are gone out into the world’ (1 John 4 v 1). This is therefore an important book on a vitally important subject. It deserves careful reading and consideration, and is amongst the best that Dr Ella has authored.
