The author has taken Richard Baxter’s well-known ‘Call to the Uncoverted’ (1658), shortened it, sub-divided it for easy reading, modernised the language and re-cast it as spoken to ‘you’ not ‘we’ or ‘us.’ That last point of change illustrates the great concern John Blanchard has had to retain the intensely personal nature of the urgent message.
