David P Murray was a pastor in the north west of Scotland, an area with some of the highest rates of depression in the world, before moving to be a Professor at Puritan Theological Seminary in Grand Rapids, USA. He has also encountered psychiatric illness amongst his dearest in this world. He therefore writes with sympathy to biblically handle the subject in this little book. He looks critically at the biblical counselling movement, asserting that Christians do get depressed without it being caused by a particular sin. He gives practical advice to the sufferer and the care-giver, and offers direction to pastors and churches. Simple and wise.
