Tobias Crisp DD (1600-1642) was a puritan rector at Brinkworth in Wiltshire, where this sermon series was preached. There are 52 of these excellent sermons collated and annotated by John Gill, no less! They aim at ‘the perfection and encouragement of the saints, notwithstanding sins and trials’ and are all based around Isaiah 53. This is a reprint of the 5th edition with a memoir included.
