The Fourteenth Annual Lecture of the James Bourne Society delivered on Saturday 4th October 2025 by Henry Sant
In this address, which centres upon the doctrine of Christ’s person, Henry Sant concentrates upon Popham’s writings in the Gospel Standard magazine, which he edited between 1905 and 1935. Here we have his mature judgement upon a doctrine that ever lay upon his heart. In fact in 1935 among his final words as editor of the magazine he wrote, “I have long known that I am regarded as ‘obsessed’ with the doctrine of Christ. Would that the glory of the Divine Son filled my soul continually, that his glorious and necessary Name, ‘Son of God,’ were ever present to my faith.”
