This is the full and unexpurgated version of Thomas Brooks’ “tract” based on Psalm 39 v 9. He is not tedious to read. For him personally afflictions had been ‘a golden key by which the Lord opens the rich treasure of his word.’ So he writes tenderly and yet faithfully to ‘all afflicted and distressed, dissatisfied, disquieted, and discomposed Christians throughout the world’ on the subject of submission to God’s will.
