People say it does not matter what we believe: the essential thing is to be sincere in whatever we do believe and to appreciate and try to understand the beliefs of others whatever they may be. This is indeed the spirit of the age (the essence of ecumenism) but it is not the voice of Holy Scripture.
Christians are exhorted in the Scriptures to ‘contend earnestly for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints’.
The aim of this book is to help the reader reach a clearer understanding of that faith, so that he or she, by God’s grace, may be equipped to contend for the truth as in Jesus and to be able to resist error wherever and whenever it arises.
The supremacy of Holy Scripture is paramount but in this book the Articles of Faith as held by the Gospel Standard Baptists have been used as a guide, in the belief that they are in complete harmony with the teaching of Holy Scripture.
