A Biblical, theological and historical exposition and defence of the ‘pan Biblical Covenant of Grace’ in which is to be seen God’s work of calling out his elect from the beginning to the end of time. Ella critiques the New Covenant theologians and Dispensationalists as abruptly separating the Old and New Testaments. The blessings from ‘the Lamb slain from the foundation of the World’ work backwards and forwards from the cross. He also takes issue with some aspects of traditional Covenant theology represented in the Westminster Standards. He also discusses the subject of the Covenant of Grace theologically in connection with Christ’s mediatorship, and historically in relation to the views of the Reformers, the Puritans, Andrew Fuller and John Gill. This is a wide ranging treatment of the subject and it is unlikely anyone will agree in every particular with Dr Ella, but he backs up his views with a wealth of references which makes this a very useful as well as challenging book.
