This book contains the remarkable account of those who thought nothing of walking miles across the moors above Rochdale in order to hear the gospel preached by John Kershaw (1792 – 1870), pastor of Hope Chapel. It is also the story of their faithful pastor, who walked the same journey in reverse during the week to minister in their mills and homes. They had a thirst for the word of God, and a living faith.
This is an amplification of a pamphlet produced for the Strict Baptist Historical Society in 1974, and a lecture to the James Bourne Society in 2013.
