Jonathan Edwards and David Brainerd were direct descendants of the Pilgrim Fathers and were used of the Lord as instruments in His hand in the outpouring of the Spirit in revival power in New England in the early eighteenth century. Through the preaching of Edwards at Northampton many lives were never the same. This revival spread across the colonies and became known as the Great Awakening of 1735 and 1741. David Brainerd after being expelled from Yale University in 1742 forsook all earthly comforts and preached the gospel to the American Indians in 1743. He too witnessed revival under his own ministry among the Indians but died at the early age of 29. (Taken from back cover)
