J K Popham (1847-1937) was a minister of the gospel for over 70 years. He was pastor of Galeed Chapel, Brighton, for over 55 years. He was editor of the Gospel Standard from 1907-1937 and also editor of the Friendly Companion for 16 years. Beside being a minister of the gospel, he was also a gifted writer and theologian. His writings dealt with many of the controversial issues of the times, such as the Arminianism of the Sankey and Moody compaigns, and the subject of the relationship between divine sovereignty and man's responsibility.
